Literature Text

Fingers delicately gliding across ivory
Black adorn occasion in a house of white
Once smiling face now six feet under
A life extinguished

Playing a final good bye to a wife
Once so full of life
Moonlight dancing around him
Swaying. Twirling. Gliding
Tears descending from portals high
In the life of a mourning widower.
I wrote this for my English teacher today when she told us to use the imagery we had when she played songs. The final song she played was Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

I had imagined Beethoven slumped over a black piano in a white marble room dressed in black. He had sat up and stared sorrowfully at a picture of his wife that was propped on his piano. Then slowly he began to play the Moonlight Sonata as his final good bye.

Other people had darker ideas of the piece as well as much happier ones. A friend of mine wrote Beethoven's suicide note, while another wrote a paragraph story of a boy and his dad in a park.

very powerful in its own right. The first time i read this, i interpreted "Once smiling face now six feet under/
A life extinguished" to be the husband, as in he died metaphorically. I think it can be interpreted either way, which adds interest. Also, just as an idea to ponder, it might be interesting if you play with another image for what is dancing around him, such as her memory, or darkness. just food for thought. overall, i really liked the piece :)
